Volunteers receive tuition waivers for Texas Bar CLE courses upon nomination for outstanding service.
Volunteers may earn up to five hours of MCLE credit (including one ethics hour) for serving as a mentor to a new attorney or to one engaging in an unfamiliar area of law, or by becoming a mentee on a case accepted through our pro bono program.
A $500 exclusion from franchise tax is offered for each pro bono case a volunteer manages (Texas Tax Code, Chap. 171).
Volunteers who contribute a minimum 75 hours per year gain free membership in the Pro Bono College of the State Bar, including free use of an online legal resource library.

Our Volunteers & Community Partners
“Family law—particularly violence against women, housing, and veteran’s work—are the main reasons why I support Legal Aid. There are other groups that help [women, individuals facing homelessness and] vets, but they are not lawyers. They can’t provide the kind of help that lawyers can.”
“Pro bono work is unique to the legal profession. No other profession gives so freely of its expertise. At Jones Day, we support our lawyers who want to give their time and talent for pro bono work. Their generosity reflects the emphasis that our firm places on giving back to our community. No matter your circumstance, there are others who need more.”
