Privacy Notice

Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas (LANWT) has created this privacy notice to explain how we use information that you may provide while visiting our website and to demonstrate our firm’s commitment to internet privacy. LANWT may modify this policy as deemed necessary so we encourage you to check this page when revisiting this website.

The following discloses our information gathering and dissemination practices for this website. The type and amount of information received depends on how you use the site.

Website Usage / Information Collection

When you visit the LANWT website, we automatically obtain information from you about the name of your internet service provider, the browser and type of computer you are using, the website that referred you to us, the pages you request, and the date and time of those requests. We use this information on an aggregate (e.g., combined) basis only to generate statistics and measure site activity to improve the usefulness of the site to our visitors; individual information is not stored. For example, we use this combined information to track which pages are most popular among visitors. We do not track the pages you or any individual visitor may look at during a visit to our site. We do not collect any other information without your knowledge and permission. We do not collect or store personally identifiable information, such as your name, mailing address, email address, or phone number unless you provide that information separately, for example by signing up to receive our newsletters and other updates from us.

Collection of Personally Identifiable Information

LANWT provides web forms so that you may provide your contact information to participate in LANWT activities, make a donation, offer to volunteer, subscribe to our e-publications, respond to surveys, request civil legal help, or correspond with us. Any information you provide to us – including your name, mailing address, email address, the type of request you are making and any additional information – is stored by LANWT. The information is used to fulfill your request and track aggregate information about usage of these features. LANWT makes every effort to ensure the secure collection and transmission of your sensitive information using industry accepted data collection and encryption methodologies, such as SSL (Secure Sockets Layer).

Please note: Because we cannot guarantee the privacy of information you submit over the internet, no attorney-client relationship is created by sending us email or using forms found on this site.

Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas’ Sharing of Personally Identifiable Information

LANWT will not post or share your personal contact information – including email address, street address, or phone number – on the website without your consent.

Financial Information and Payments

We use a secure server for processing payments and financial information. LANWT staff logs in to the secure site, retrieves the information, and processes it.

Cookies

A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user’s hard drive containing information about the user. We use cookies on our site to personalize and customize the experience of our visitors and to support some necessary functions. We use cookies to better understand how our visitors use our site. You also have choices with respect to cookies. By modifying your browser preferences, you have the choice to accept all cookies, to be notified when a cookie is set, or to reject all cookies. For more information on how to modify your browser settings to block or filter cookies, see http://www.cookiecentral.com/faq/. Please note that if you reject some or all cookies, your experience at this website (as well as on other websites) may be incomplete. In addition, rejecting cookies prevents personalized content delivery offered by some websites.

Opting Out of LANWT Email Lists

People who subscribe to mailing lists via this website will receive periodic updates from LANWT by regular mail or email. Likewise, those who complete some of our online forms may be visiting sites outside LANWT (e.g., offers to volunteer or make a donation). Those completing these forms may receive news, updates, or requests for support from LANWT via regular mail or email. Information you provide to us – including your name, mailing address, and email address – is stored by LANWT. We do not trade or sell these contact lists. You may opt out of receiving future information from us by using the unsubscribe link specified on the email message or by sending an email to DevelopmentDirector@lanwt.org.

Outside Links

Our website contains links to other sites, such as Giveffect and the Texas Attorney General. LANWT is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such websites. We encourage users to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements of each website that collects personally identifiable information. This privacy notice applies only to information collected by this website.

Security

This site has security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse, and alteration of the information under our control. We use Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption to protect the transmission of information you submit to us when you use our secure online forms for financial transactions. All of the information you provide us through these forms is stored securely.

While we use SSL encryption to protect sensitive information online, we also protect user information offline. All information is stored on secured servers behind a firewall. Only employees who need information to perform a specific job function are granted access to personally identifiable information. Finally, the servers that store sensitive information are kept in a secure environment.

If you send us an email, you should know that email is not necessarily secure against interception. So, if your communication includes sensitive information such as your bank account, charge card, or Social Security number and you prefer not to use one of our secure online forms, you may contact our Administrative Office at 817-336-3943 instead.

Children’s Privacy

Because LANWT cares about the safety and privacy of children online, we comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA). COPPA and its accompanying FTC regulation establish United States federal law that protects the privacy of children using the internet. We do not knowingly contact or collect personal information from children under 13. Our site is not intended to solicit information of any kind from children under 13. It is possible that by fraud or deception we may receive information pertaining to children under 13. If we are notified of this and as soon as we verify the notification, we will immediately obtain parental consent or otherwise delete the information from our servers. If you want to notify us of our receipt of information by children under 13, please do so by contacting our Administrative Office at 817-336-3943.
